RLS Land Solutions runs excavation in Lake Jackson, Texas. We are a family outfit based in Needville, up Highway 36 in Fort Bend County. Lake Jackson sits in Brazoria County, about ten miles south of Angleton on Highway 288. We bring big equipment down that way for clearing, dirt work, ponds and material delivery. Our smallest excavators run in the 50,000 pound class. We also run larger machines and a fleet of tandem dump trucks. We own two sand and dirt pits in southeast Fort Bend County. Select fill, fill dirt and sand come off our own ground and load onto our own trucks. This close to the coast, that matters more than most people expect.
The town was laid out in the 1940s for Dow Chemical workers, and the plan still shows. Streets curve around old oaks. The signs at This Way and That Way still catch visitors. Inside those blocks the lots are tight and the canopy is heavy. Out toward Richwood, Angleton and the Brazos, tracts open up into acreage and brush. We work both, and we size the machines to the ground. Our minimum project is about $10,000, since we are built for volume. Hundreds of loads and thousands of cleared acres are normal weeks for us.

Lake Jackson sits about thirteen feet above sea level on heavy Brazos River clay. That clay holds water and drains slowly. Flat ground and slow soil means water sits wherever the grade lets it sit. Most calls we get here start with that problem. The rest start with a lot that has to come up before anything gets built. Access is the other thing we check early. The older blocks off Oyster Creek Drive have narrow curves, low limbs and mature oaks close to the pavement. We look at gate widths, culverts and turnaround room before a lowboy leaves Needville.
The work splits by where you are. On acreage toward Richwood, Angleton and the river bottoms, we clear brush and timber by the acre. We dig ranch ponds, build roads and shape pasture out there. In town and along the Highway 332 and 288 corridor, the jobs are pads, lot buildups and drainage grading. Commercial sites near the plants run bigger and often run on a tight calendar. We are open around the clock and can put on more than one shift when a schedule calls for it. Cleared trees and brush go to our own green waste dump.
Material is the piece people underestimate on a coastal job. We own two sand and dirt pits in southeast Fort Bend County. Select fill, fill dirt, sand and sandy loam come off that ground. It goes out on our own tandem dump trucks. From the pits it is Highway 36 south, or 288 down through Angleton. One outfit supplying and hauling keeps a hundred load job on a single schedule. Hundreds of loads on one job is a normal week for us. If you only need trucking, we move dirt, sand and road base in, and spoil out.
The rest of the menu runs off the same equipment. We build house pads and commercial pads. Topsoil comes off, fill goes in, and the pad gets compacted as it builds. We cut fall and shape swales so water leaves a lot instead of standing on it. We build ranch roads and driveways with caliche or crushed limestone base over prepared subgrade. We dig ponds and small lakes on acreage west and north of town. Clearing, hauling and grading often run together on one tract, since the machines are already there.
