RLS Land Solutions runs excavation and dirt work in Damon, Texas. We are based in Needville, about eleven miles north on Highway 36. That makes this town part of our home ground. We move big equipment down that road most weeks. Our smallest excavators are in the 50,000 pound class. We also run larger machines and a fleet of tandem dump trucks. The land around town is flat coastal prairie, with Damon Mound rising just west of Highway 36. Most of the work here is ranch and acreage work. That means clearing pasture, digging ponds, building pads and hauling dirt. We sell select fill, fill dirt and sand from our own pits in southeast Fort Bend County.
Damon is a small place, and the jobs here get measured in acres. Ranch owners call about pasture that has grown up in brush. Builders and land owners call about pads, roads and fill. Our minimum project is about $10,000, because we are set up for volume. Hundreds of truckloads is a normal week. We have cleared thousands of acres for utility scale solar farms. Most tracts out here are open pasture with fence lines and low spots that have filled in with brush. We clear that with large excavators and dozer class equipment. Trees and brush get pushed out or dug out at the root. Then the material is hauled off or burned on site, depending on what you want. Cleared trees go to our own green waste dump, so you are not paying a landfill to take them. Fence line clearing, underbrush work and full pasture reclaim all run the same way. We work in acres, not corners. When the calendar is tight, we put more than one machine on the tract.
Ponds are a big part of ranch work in Brazoria County. The coastal prairie soil here is heavy clay, and the ground runs close to flat. Clay like that holds water well, which is why stock tanks work on these places. We dig ponds and small lakes with the same large excavators we use for clearing. Spoil dirt gets spread and shaped on site instead of trucked off, when the ground allows it. We shape the banks, set the depth and grade the approach so cattle and equipment can reach the water. Bigger ranch lakes take longer and more equipment, and we size the dig to the water you want to hold.
We own two sand and dirt pits in southeast Fort Bend County. That means the select fill, fill dirt and sand on your job comes off our own ground. It gets loaded on our trucks. Damon is a short run from those pits, straight down Highway 36. Short hauls keep truck time down on jobs that need hundreds of loads. We run a fleet of tandem dump trucks, so the material and the trucking come from one place. If you only need the hauling, we move dirt, sand and road base in and out of sites around town. We also haul off spoil when a job makes more dirt than it needs.
Building pads and site prep run the same way. We strip topsoil, bring in select fill, build the pad in lifts and compact it. House pads on acreage, commercial pads and pool site prep all get that treatment. Grading matters here because the prairie is flat and the clay drains slowly. Water sits where you leave it, so we cut fall and shape swales to move it off. Ranch roads get a base of caliche or crushed limestone over prepared subgrade. That holds up to loaded trucks and cattle trailers in wet weather. Driveways off Highway 36 and the county roads get built the same way.
